Merge GL Accounts

If you have undesired general ledger accounts in a client file which have had activity in the past, you cannot delete them. You can, however, merge general accounts that have the same Classification.

1. Select Utilities>Maintenance>Merge GL Accounts.
2. Select the account you want to keep from the drop-down list. All accounts with the same classification as the selected account will be displayed in the grid below.
   
   
   
3. Select the Account(s) you wish to merge into the selected account by clicking in the Merge field.
   
   
   
4. Click Merge Selected to merge the accounts. The following dialog box will open so you can review your selection.
   
   Yes—The activity in the accounts selected in the grid will be moved to the account you have selected to keep. The accounts selected in the grid will be deleted. A Backup dialog box will open. Back up the accoungs before continuing if desired.
   No—Return to the previous window without merging accounts.
   
   
5. After you have merged accounts the following dialog box will open.
   
   Yes—Return to the first window where you can select additional accounts to merge.
   No—Close the Merge GL Accounts window.

If necessary, you can edit the Name and Description of the accounts you kept in Setup>Accounts.
