The Working Trial Balance utility may be used to enter ending balances for all accounts from a trial balance or general ledger report. An adjusting entry for the difference to each account may then be generated. Adjustments to balance accounts like inventory, accounts receivable, notes payable or payroll tax liabilities payable may also be calculated quickly and then generated.
Select Utilities>Working Trial Balance.
Select the accounts you wish to display in the window.
All Accounts—When selected all active accounts will be displayed.
Accounts with balance—When selected only accounts with a balance as of the Period and Year selected will be displayed.
Select the desired Period and Year.
Click Get Balances to display the balances as of the selected period or year.
Enter adjusted balance or adjustment amounts as desired.
Enter an amount in the Adjusted Balance field. The difference between the Balance and Adjusted Balance will be displayed in the Adjustment column.
Enter an amount in the Adjustment column. The balance after the adjustment will be displayed in the Adjusted Balance Column.
Create Entry—Create a journal entry containing one line for each amount in the Adjustment column.
Note: The Adjustment Total displays the difference between debit and credit amounts. This must be 0.00 to create the entry.
The General Journal window will open with the adjusting entry displayed. The Page will default to WTB_nn. Enter a description in the Memo field and Save and Close.
Export—Export the information in the grid to a Comma delimited, Tab delimited or ASCII file. Enter a file name or browse to the desired directory and enter a file name.
Print—Print the contents of the grid. If the columns are not printing the same width as on screen, change the Print Offset in Screen Options.
Options
Click the Options icon to see the following options:
Print Offset—Due to printer variations, column widths do not print the same as they look on the screen. Use Options>Print Offset to adjust for these differences. Increase the number to increase the printed column width and decrease the number to decrease the width.
Show Inactive Accounts
Yes—Accounts with Inactive Status will be displayed in the window.
No—Accounts with Inactive Status will not be displayed in the window.
Show YTD Net Income
Yes—The year to date net income will be displayed at the bottom of the window.
No—The year to date net income will not be displayed at the bottom of the window.
