Batch Enter Checks

The Batch Enter Checks feature makes it easy to enter bank or credit card activity quickly using a convenient grid-style window. Instead of entering each transaction individually, you can enter multiple transactions at once and create the individual entries when you are finished.

You can also save your progress and return later if you are interrupted.

Getting Started

To begin entering checks:

1. Open Write Up>Batch Enter Checks.
   
   
    
2. Enter the first check number.
3. Enter the day of the month for the transaction.
4. Enter the Payee Name.
5. Review the Account. The default account will be displayed, but you can change it if needed.
6. Enter the Amount.
7. Enter a Memo if desired.

When you move to the next line, the page number will automatically increment.

Continue entering transactions until all of your bank or credit card activity has been entered.

Splitting a Check Between Multiple Accounts

If a check needs to be posted to multiple accounts, you can enter the check more than once.

1. Enter the check information normally on the first line.
2. On the next line, enter the same check number again.
3. The program will automatically populate the date and payee fields.
4. Enter the additional Account Code.
5. Enter the amount to be posted to that account.
6. Repeat these steps for any additional accounts.

This allows you to split one check across multiple accounts without having to re-enter the check's basic information each time. The Check Total at the bottom of the window will display the total amount of the selected check.

Save Your Progress

If you are interrupted before completing the batch, click Save at the bottom of the window to save your progress and return to it later. This allows you to continue entering transactions without losing the work you have already completed.

Create the Transactions

When you have finished entering all of your transactions, click Create Entries.

The program will create the individual transactions from the information entered in the batch.

Editing or Deleting a Check

If you need to make a change after the checks have been created:

1. Go to Write Up > Checks.
2. Click the List icon.
3. Locate the check you want to change.
4. Double-click the check to open it.
5. Make the necessary edits.
6. Save your changes.
