SSN Verification

The Social Security Number Verification Service (SSNVS) is one of the services offered by Social Security Administration's (SSA) Business services Online (BSO). It allows registered users (employers and certain third-party submitters) to verify the names and Social Security Numbers (SSNs) of employees against SSA records. You can create a file to upload to SSA BSO in FCA™. The Social Security Administration will return a verified file. You can open the returned file using Utilities>Payroll>Returned SSN File.

Before You Create the File

1. Select Setup>Company Information.
   
2. Enter OEVS in the value field for the OEVS (Provided by SSA) prompt.
3. Click OK  to save and close the window.

To Create the Social Security Number Verification File

1. Select File>Exports>SSN Verification.
   
2. Click the Browse  icon in the toolbar to browse to the desired folder, enter a filename, and click Save.
3. Enter the desired date in the Include all active employees and employees terminated after: field. Employees with a termination date prior to the entered date will not be included in the file.
4. Click Create File to create the file. The following dialog box will open when the file has been created.
   
5. Click OK to close the window.
6. Upload the file to Social Security Business Services Online per their instructions.
