This is an overview of the terms we use to refer to different elements of your site. Knowing these terms will make navigating and editing your site easy. Depending on your theme, the layout may not be exactly the same, but most elements should be in the same general areas as shown in these examples. This article will address navigation on the live site and the site editor. To see a larger version of any of the screenshots below, right click on the image, and choose open image in new tab, then click on the image once to see a zoomed-in version of the image. The basic sections of any website are the header, body, and footer. As shown in the screenshot below, the header is the top of the webpage, the body is the middle, and the footer is the bottom. The live site is the site your clients will see when they go to your URL. You will make all edits in a separate section, called the Admin of your site. 1—This whole section is the site header. It spans the entire width of your site. Every theme contains a header, but some have more elements than others. Your browser's address bar is directly above the header. This is where you can see the exact URL of the page you are currently looking at. 2—This is the header logo. Clicking on your site logo will take you to the home page from anywhere in your site. You can learn how to change this logo in the Change Site Logos article. 3—This is the site's main menu, or the header menu. Some of the menu entries navigate directly to another page on the site, while others open a drop-down menu with multiple pages to choose from. You can learn how to edit the header menu in the Edit Menus article. 4—This is the header contact information. In this theme, it is located to the right of the header menu. In some layouts, the contact information is found above the menu, where the login button is located in this theme. You can learn how to edit contact information in the Edit Contact Information article 5—This is the login button. You can change where this link directs by following the directions in the Edit Login Link article. The main body of the page is between the header and footer. The body is divided into individual sections. The first, large text element in the body of a page is the headline. The headline may be located to the left or right of center on the page. Often, the header on internal pages is in a different place than on your site's home page. In the screenshots below, the first example is from the site home page, and the second is from an internal page. Below the headline are sections comprising the remainder of the body. The example page below has 4 separate sections, which have been numbered. Each section will be set up a little differently, including different elements. Some will have multiple small boxes for showcasing different aspects of your company, like you can see in sections 1, 3, and 4 below. Others have larger image boxes, and space for more text, like you see in section 2 below. 1—This whole section is the site footer. Like the header, it spans the entire width of your site. Every theme contains a footer, but some have more elements than others. 2—This is the footer logo. You can learn how to change this logo in the Change Site Logos article. 3—This is the footer text. You can change this message as well. You can learn how to change this in the Edit Footer Message article. 4—This is the footer menu. You can learn how to edit it in the Edit Menus article. 5—This is the footer contact information. You can learn how to edit it in the Edit Contact Information article. 6—This is the copyright message. By default, it includes the current year, updated automatically, and your company name, as listed when the site was created, and can be edited if necessary. You can learn how to change this in the Edit Copyright Message article. To access the Admin side of your site, you will need to log in, which you can learn how to do in the corresponding article. Only people who have the login credentials can make changes to your site. The first page that will open when you first log in to the Admin of your site is called the Dashboard. From the Dashboard you can navigate to other pages of the Admin. The following terms will be used in other help articles to describe different places in the Admin. Instructions for specific pages of the Admin can be found in the corresponding help articles. 1—This is the left menu. From here, you can access most pages of the Admin. While some pages have shortcuts in other places on the Dashboard, every page can also be accessed through this menu. The top option in this menu, View Live Site will open a new tab to your site home page from anywhere in the Admin. 2—This button is a menu toggle switch, which shows, or hides, the left menu. If your menu is ever missing, this button may have been clicked. You can hide the menu when you want more space on your screen for other aspects of the Admin. 3—These quick tiles are shortcuts to places in the Admin where you will likely be going most often. Click Dashboard in the left menu at any time to return to the main page. 4—Use the settings icon to log out of your account when you are done making changes. You can also click the settings icon to make changes to your user profile. 5—The support link opens a form where you can contact the Dillner's Support Team if you need help with some aspect of your site. You can also email our support team directly at support@dillners.com. Pages, Blog Posts, Forms, and Sliders are all accessed first through a Manager page. Each manager can be accessed from the left menu under Theme Editor. The Pages and Blog Posts manager can also be accessed from the quick tiles located at the top of the Dashboard. Each manager lists every corresponding page, post, form, or slider on the site, and lets you add new entries, and edit or filter existing ones. You can learn more about these actions in the Manage Pages and Manage Blog Posts articles. The other managers on the Admin work in similar ways as these do. The different aspects of this page are described below. 1—Title—This is the title of the page, post, form, or slider, depending on the Manager you are in. 2—Author—This is the username of the person who created each entry. 3—Date—This is the date when the entry was created. 4—Action—This column includes two options: edit, or delete. Each entry can be edited or deleted from this column. Clicking the Edit icon for any entry will take you the Editor for the associated page, blog post, form, or slider. 5—Search—Entry titles can be searched using this box. Only the current folder will be searched. (See #7 below for a description of how to switch between folders.) 6—Add New—This button allows you to create a new entry in the Manager. 7—Status Folders—These folders filter the entries by publishing status. The status of any page, blog post, form, or slider can be changed from the entry Editor. 8—Page Navigation—This allows you to know which page of entries you are currently looking at. The arrows on the left and right can be used to navigate between pages. Pages, Blog Posts, Forms, and Sliders are all edited by clicking on the title of the entry from the Manager page for that type of content, each of which is different, to match the needs of the different types of entries.
